John Marshall's Boyhood Home “The Hollow”

Preserve The Hollow for Future Generations

The Hollow as seen in 1910

A 1910 picture of The Hollow was printed in the landmark 1916 biography of John Marshall by Albert Beveridge.

The boyhood home of Chief Justice John Marshall, The Hollow, has been donated to Friends of the Hollow, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to its preservation. Now, we need your help to restore this 252-year-old historic landmark before time takes its toll.

Marshall lived at The Hollow from ages 9 to 17, where the intellect and character that would later define the U.S. Constitution was developed.
